 As of now, she’s the only one who doesn’t hide from my camera.  Her little lisp and spunk melt me….I’m so happy to have been able to capture her sweet little spirit. Afterall, thats what photography is for, right

Of course birthday’s are supposed to be happy occasions, but when your littlest is growing up way too fast I can’t help feel a bit of sadness today.

How much longer will I be able to hold her in my arms—to snuggle her face—to hold her hand walking down the street?

When will she not want to cuddle or have me read her books (over and over and over, hehe)? Her little curls at bathtime, the smell of a diaper, and her beloved blankie…I will miss all of these things so much!

So for a moment  pause and hold her close…she is still my baby. And will be forever.

 I love you sweet girl!

It is pretty funny how from August to December my children are lucky to see me let alone my camera. During the cold winter months I love capturing the everyday of my littles.  This is my “make-up time”.

From sick days to breakfast, it is all about the details. Those chubby fingers….constantly wet chin…and persistent determination, that is what my little girl IS. While wiping her chin 10 times a day may be grooooos now I know I am going to miss these days.

The preset collections I created work so well with these types of lifestyle shots too. They actually make it possible to edit my personal image so fast- I only pull them into photoshop to prepare for the web display.

Feels like forever and like we just met all at the same time.

I guess I was heading toward another ‘bad mother award’ neglecting my children’s portraits again, but the light was just too beautiful tonight to miss. So we hopped in the car an rode to the other side of the neighborhood- to this little spot that I have been eying up for a while. We just needed a couple of minutes and that is pretty much all she game me. Man is she fast!

How on earth did this happen? It feels like just yesterday when I was bed ridden for 91 days trying my best to keep this tiny baby girl from coming too early. It was such an uncertain time….I remember praying so hard for this sweet baby to arrive here safely. So during this time while I was busy staying pregnant I was also busy reading and experimenting. I had met a great group of ladies on an online pregnancy and baby forum. There they had a little ole DSLR Hobbyist board. I’d say that is where this crazy photography journey first birthed ; – 0 Once my little peanut was born it got even greater. How could I not capture this perfect little baby that I had cared for so intensely for so long? She made it here safely……5 weeks early at a whopping 4 lbs, but she was here and PERFECT.

And she still is perfectly sweet, perfectly sassy, and perfectly all mine.Oh how I love you sweetie.

Thank you for giving me someone to love. Thank you for giving me a reason to work so hard and thank you for making me want to be the best I can be.

Boy time files when you are having fun. This is the monthly post that a couple of CM PRO friend and I do. We take a topic and shoot it. I have committed to keep the images of my family, because, of course, they are the reason I started in photography, but they are also the first to go when things get too busy! This month I actually kind of prepared for my little personal project ; – ) My awesome little family took me away for the weekend to celebrate my birthday. I wanted to snap some shot of us just being us. So on a Sunday morning in our hotel room with PJ’s and giggles I captured the way I see motherhood everyday. Silly, messy- and imperfectly perfect.

Now grab a cup of coffee and head on over to some other talented girls to see their take  on motherhood. First up is the talented Elle Walker. OMG, that last image on her blog is just amazing!!!!

I just has to share these snaps from the other night when they got these adorable little dresses at The Pittsburgh Folk Festival. We have been going there since it feel like the inception!  They did get to try out their dance moves too!
